Purpose:

The Environment Act 2021 introduced a strengthened Biodiversity Duty requiring all public authorities in England to consider what steps they can take to conserve and enhance biodiversity.

This Biodiversity Duty Report summarises the actions that have been taken across the Council to meet the Duty within the current reporting period (1st January 2024- 1st January 2026). It also identifies further actions that could be taken to continue to meet the duty and improve outcomes for biodiversity.

(1)          That the Biodiversity Duty Report 2024-25 be endorsed.

 

(2)          That it be noted following the completion and adoption of a Community Biodiversity Plan, an annual update be presented to the Executive.
